Description
Most artists, especially many who worked at Disney over the years, do their fair share of freelance work to supplement their income. Claude Coats was no exception. During the 1940s and 50s, Coats created paintings for magazine advertisements and other commercial outlets. In the spirit of the holiday season, he created these joyful Christmas cards in the style of his renowned work as a background painter and color stylist for many of the classic Walt Disney animated films. This special holiday collection features four different images originally painted in gouache on board in 1950. This twelve (12) notecard set includes three (3) cards each of the following images: Santa’s Special Delivery, Where the Ornaments Grow, Snow Valley and Jolly Holiday.
After spending more than twenty years at the Walt Disney Studios and completing his work on Lady and the Tramp, Coats went onto become one of the original Imagineers who helped Walt Disney create Disneyland. He worked for The Walt Disney Company for 54 years before retiring.
All notecards are blank on the inside.
